Even if you don’t follow the sport of boxing there’s a very good chance you have at least heard of Floyd Mayweather Jr. ‘Money’ Mayweather is an absolute powerhouse in the ring and destined to be remembered as one of the sport’s greatest when his career is nothing but a long distant memory. In his professional career, Mayweather has taken on 49 fights and walked away from every single one as the winner – 26 of them by knockout. His fame and fighting peak came in May 2015 when he fought Manny Pacquiao in Las Vegas in one of the most hyped fights in recent years. Although he faced one more successful bout before retirement, Mayweather’s win over Pacquiao represented the final word on a dominant career in boxing.
A nice bonus for Mayweather is that along with all the fame and titles won inside the ring, success has also given the 38 year old ridiculous amounts of money. From 2012 to 2015 Forbes listed the boxer as the highest paid in professional sports. Raking in an estimated $300 million in 2015 alone, it’s not hard to see why Mayweather rates so highly on such assessments. With so much dough, what’s a guy to do? Well, as you’d expect, the Michigan-born fighter lives quite the lifestyle. He reportedly only wears shoes and boxer-shorts once before throwing them out. He is known for dropping hundreds of thousands of dollars on bets in one day and is often pictured showing off his piles of cash.
As you’d expect, with so much money and a willingness to spend it, Mayweather also sports one of the biggest car collections around. In fact, he has two separate fleets of cars – one in Miami and one in Las Vegas. Loaded with the finest Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Bentleys and Rolls-Royces, these collections often catch a lot of interest. Recently, a truck transporting some of his cars caught on fire. Mayweather lost a Bentley and a couple Rolls-Royces. A devastating loss to anyone else, Mayweather probably just shrugged his shoulders and started looking for other luxury and exotic cars to replace them. As you’ll see, given the size and impressive quality of the cars in this boxer’s collection, he probably doesn’t have time to care about losing an estimated $1+ million in the truck fire.
Special Mention: Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren
Ok, so Floyd Mayweather doesn’t own this car anymore, after putting it up sale in March 2014, but we couldn’t resist throwing up some info and a pic of one of the sexiest Mercedes around. The SLR McLaren is a fantastic looking car when it comes to both sight and sound. After taking in all the exterior design and iconic gull-wing doors, the ears are given a treat thanks to the 5.4L supercharged V8 engine. Why would Mayweather sell such a fantastic car that is rare and not even made anymore? Given the guy reportedly only wears a pair of shoes once, we figure no explanation is really needed.
10. Rolls Royce Ghost
One looks at Floyd Mayweather’s car collection and it’s easy to see he loves Rolls Royce. In fact, he seems to have so many that no one except Floyd is really sure which ones burned up in the truck fire. Technically the Ghost is the entry-level Rolls Royce (cue laughter). Brand new, it’ll run you around $250,000 and up – chump change for someone like Mayweather. It has all the looks and luxury you’d expect from this brand but we think it’s what’s under the hood that counts here. The Ghost is powered by a 6.6L twin-turbocharged V12 engine that puts out 562 hp and 575 lb-ft of torque. That’s a lot of punch in something that looks more luxury and sports car.
9. Lamborghini Murcielago
When it comes to athletes who love to show off their money, a Lamborghini seems to be a requisite purchase. Fortunately, Mayweather owns a few of these Italian supercars. While he prefers his vehicles to come in either black or white, the fighter has a yellow Murcielago in his personal collection. Powered by a 6.5L V12 engine which puts out around 650 hp, it’s a good thing this Lambo has an AWD system to help keep the power firmly planted. Price-wise, it can be difficult to assess what he spent on this car given they stopped making them in 2010. That said, the Murcielago was around $330,000 new and excellent condition specimens can easily fetch much more than that today.
8. Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG
Small and packing a lot punch, we can see why this car would appeal to someone like Floyd Mayweather. The Mercedes SLS AMG is the kind of car you could just stare at all day. The two-door gullwing is a nod to the legendary 300SL and the overall design is one which attracts celebrities from all fields. Under the fantastic design is an AMG tuned 6.2L V8 engine which produces 563 hp and a sound in between an American muscle car and an Italian exotic. By owning this $220,000 car, Mayweather joins the ranks of others, like Roger Federer, Jay Leno and Cristiano Ronaldo, who have fallen under the spell of the SLS.
7. Rolls Royce Phantom
When you’re looking for the symbol of British luxury cars, look no further than the Rolls Royce Phantom. This iconic ride looks like how you’d expect a Rolls Royce to look and has all the luxury as well. Built by hand in England, the Phantom starts at around $410,000. What does that get Mayweather? It gets you all the amenities for first class travel inside and a 0-60 time of 5.7 seconds to boot. This is made possible thanks to a big 6.8L V12 which produces 453 hp and 531 lb-ft of torque. It’s not as much power as you find in the ‘cheaper’ Ghost, but when you buy a Phantom it’s never about the power.
6. Bentley Mulsanne
There may be those days that Floyd Mayweather feels like a Rolls Royce is a little too played out. For times like that, he can turn to his Bentley Mulsanne. This car starts at around $306,000 but can be customized with a very long list of add-ons to suit the tastes of the owner. For this reason alone we guarantee that Mayweather’s Mulsanne is significantly more expensive. This Bentley makes use of a lot of wood and leather to make the interior as luxurious as possible. On the outside, to the untrained eye, the Mulsanne looks like a Rolls Royce. It even weighs nearly the same as a Phantom. Under the hood, this rolling first-class cabin is powered by a 5.75L twin-turbocharged V8 which puts out a respectable 505hp.
5. McLaren 650S
This McLaren may look an awful lot like the company’s MP4-12C but it is, in fact, a new car. With the end of 12C production in 2014, the British company moved on to this new replacement. The 650S uses the same chassis and engine as its predecessor but around a quarter of the car is completely new. As you’d expect, this McLaren is lightweight and handed a good amount of performance thanks to its 641hp 3.8L twin-turbocharged V8 motor. It’s 0-60 time of 3 seconds may not be as fast as Mayweather’s punches but it’s impressive enough to find itself in his personal garage. The added bonus is that at $270,000, it’s a relative steal in terms of super car value.
4. Lamborghini Aventador
When it came out in 2011, it was clear that the Aventador was the ‘must have’ car for those who loved flashy, high-performance Italian exotics. Given Floyd Mayweather owns a Murcielago, it only makes sense that he owns its replacement. There’s no mystery or subtlety with the Aventador. One look at its lines and its engine makes it clear that this is one serious performance car. The engine is a 6.5L V12 that turns out an impressive 691 hp to the AWD system. This gives the car a 0-60 time of 2.9 seconds and a top speed of over 350 km/h. All of this doesn’t come cheap as the Aventador easily starts at around $400,000 for those looking to boost their Lambo collection.
3. Ferrari Enzo
Until recently, Mayweather owned one of these F1 inspired exotics by Ferrari. With only 400 made, the Enzo is a much sought after item in the collector world. Loaded with racing inspired technology, designed to stand out in a crowd and powered by an impressive 651 hp V12, it’s little wonder why these cars are such a hit among Ferrari and exotic car enthusiasts. They usually sell in the region of $1+ million, which was clearly too low for the champ because he valued his at $3.8 when he put it up for sale last summer. We guess when you’re the champ it adds value to an already valuable car. What’s he going to put the money toward to fill the Enzo-sized hole in his collection? Continue on and you’ll see.
2. Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport
Floyd Mayweather actually owns a few Bugatti Veyrons. At the top of this list is his white Veyron Grand Sport. With only 150 built, this particular Veyron model is very rare. Get inside and you’ll also see how ridiculously powerful it is. That’s because the Veyron is powered by an insanely large 8.0L 16 cylinder engine. Not finished there, the designers at Bugatti threw on four turbochargers which allow this monstrous engine to put out over 1000 hp and reach a top speed of 408 km/h. Of course, it’s only a matter of time until we see that Mayweather has traded in this Bugatti for the even more powerful Veyron Super Sport.
1. Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita
So, remember that Enzo listed a little earlier that Mayweather sold off for around $3.8 million? Speculation is that he took that money and it put it towards buying this super-rare and ultra-exotic $4.8 million Swedish car. There are only two Koenigsegg CCXR Trevitas in the world. That’s because this car uses a special carbon-fibre weave with a diamond finish. That’s right, this car is literally made with diamonds which makes it stand out from the normal super cars that use regular carbon fibre. Sure it has a 4.8L twin-turbocharged engine that puts out nearly 800 lb-ft of torque, but that is very secondary to the diamond carbon fibre used in the construction of the body. Trevita means ‘three whites’ which automatically qualifies it for Mayweather’s collection. We’re just wondering how long until he gets bored of it and sells it like many of his other amazing rides.
