Sanjay Balraj Dutt was born on July 29, 1959 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. He is the son of Bollywood film greats Sunil and Nargis Dutt, and made his film debut in the 1981 Bollywood film Rocky, which was directed by his father.
Three days before the premier of his debut movie, Sanjay Dutt’s mother died. This motivated him to become a star, leading him to appear in high-profile films such as the 1982 movie Vidhaata, the highest-grossing film of that year. Wider recognition came when he took the lead role in the 1986 film Naam.
